Bank One Ballpark
Bank One Ballpark (The
Bob), a baseball-only ballpark located in the heart of Phoenix,
is home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and has been since March
31, 1998. Bank One is fully equipped in every sense, from its
retractable roof to its swimming pool beyond right field. The
ballpark can hold almost 50,000 people comfortably and is owned
by the county, not by an individual owner. It’s located
right next to America West Arena, home to the Phoenix Suns
of the National Basketball Association and the Phoenix Coyotes
of the National Hockey League.
The retractable
roof takes only four minutes to open or close because
of two 200-horsepower motors and four miles of cable. The Bob
also comes equipped with an 8,000-ton cooling system (2,500 houses
worth) in order to keep the fans guarded from the dreadfully
hot days of the Arizona summer. Seats near the clubhouse and
dugout will cost you more than $65, but the memories are well
worth it. Seats in the outfield bleacher and picnic area are
only $13, and select nights, seats in the upper level only cost
you a single dollar. There might not be a thing better than being
in a beautiful ballpark watching great baseball and only paying
a dollar for a night full of unbelievable memories.
