MCAFEE STADIUM

With their stadium's name changed for the 2005 to McAfee Stadium, the Oakland Athletics have made several great improvements to the ballpark in respect of their loyal fans.  After a $200 million renovation project was completed in 1996, the McAfee stadium only needed a few upgrades to make it the world-class ballpark it is today.  For the 2008 season, the Athletics have opened up a formerly closed section of "All-You-Can-Eat" seats on the third deck with ticket prices for these seats at only $30.

Network Associates Coliseum, located in Oakland, California, is one of the few baseball stadiums that also serves as home to another professional team, in this case, the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League. It also is the home of the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball, and was a big part of the reason the Kansas City Athletics eventually made the move west. Network Associates Coliseum was built in 1966 and was built for only $25.5 million dollars. The stadium was quite bland and was therefore renovated at the conclusion of the 1995 season.

The first few games of the 1996 season actually had to be played in Las Vegas because the construction workers were still removing seats in the outfield so there would be space for 125 luxury suites and two new color video boards. Even with all the work done to the ballpark, there is still adequate parking in many lots, and a deal with the transit station (B.A.R.T.) can get you the best public transportation has to offer for a low price, even from areas as far out as San Francisco. Tickets are still reasonably priced, so combined with the low cost on transportation, Athletics fans get to see their team for a real bargain.
