PETCO Park
PETCO Park was opened in 2004, and it is the
home of the San Diego Padres. This park will be spectacular in
every way, combining the best sight lines in baseball with breathtaking
views of San Diego. The park is made mostly of natural stone
and stucco exterior and involves some fabulous landscaping. The
idea behind the design of PETCO Park was to give it a relaxed
feeling that reflected the typical lifestyle of the San Diego
citizen. The park itself was built so that it could give the
best possible views of the bay, the mountains, and the downtown
area without detracting from the feeling of the park itself.
The field is asymmetrical with various features
adding to the charm of the brand new ballpark. Every seat is
equipped with cup holders and adequate leg room, unlike many
other ballparks, and seats farther from the action are angled
in towards the playing field. There are no obstructed views from
any of the 42,000 seats at PETCO, and they’ve
devised a system of regional public transportation
that is incredibly efficient and useful to the average baseball
enthusiast. PETCO Park was built with the consumer in mind, and
combines elements of the future with a touch of the past.
