PNC Park
The self-proclaimed "Best Stadium in Baseball," PNC Park, made several changes in preparation for the 2008 season. Among those included making the ballpark a completely smoke free stadium as a result of a city-wide smoking ban on public places including PNC Park. The Pirates also removed the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in the stadium and replaced it with The Hall of Fame Club, which caters to all ticket holders, and recently has started to hold band performances after the games.
PNC Park is located at 115 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, and plays home to the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League Central. PNC Park opened in the beginning of the 2001 season and can facilitate more than 38,000 people. PNC Park was the first ballpark with a two-deck design to be built in the United States since Milwaukee's County Stadium was completed in 1953. The highest seat is only 88 feet from the field because of the intimate design and ideal sight lines. Former Pirate Manny Sanguillen actually owns and operates a barbeque in the outfield bleachers, and will even sign autographs while you wait for your order.
To hit a ball into the Alleghany River, running behind right center field, you'd have to hit it at least 443 feet and 4 inches. The seating capacity is just over 38,000 people and the natural grass field covers just over 3 acres of land. The construction was completed in just less than two years and only cost $216 million. A ticket in the grandstands or bleachers will only cost you hardly anything, tickets in front of the river walk are even less, and a ticket right behind either of the dugouts won't break the budget.
