AT&T PARK

With the merger of SBC and AT&T, the name of the San Francisco Giants' world class stadium was changed in 2006 to AT&T Park.  With this name change, a number of new renovations and additions to the park are also evident, including a brand new High Definition video scoreboard by Mitsubishi and the installation of 122 WiFi access points at AT&T Park, making it one of the largest public WiFi hotspots in the world. Ticket sales are high as the Giants hope to go all the way this year.

SBC Park, which plays host to the San Francisco Giants of the National League West, opened in the year 2000. At the entrance of the park, there is a nine foot statue of the legendary Willie Mays. Many people that tune into baseball see the deepest home runs in right field splash into McCovey Cove, named after the hall-of-fame player Willie McCovey. For the kids, there is a miniature SBC park located behind left field, and children of all ages flock to it to enjoy the game their way.

The fences from left to center field range from 8 to 11 feet, and the fences are 25 feet high in right field in order to compensate for a 309 distance from home plate to the bleachers in right field. Contrary to most other baseball parks, SBC Park also hosts events for other sports throughout the year. The Emerald Bowl is put on in last December every year, and it pits a team from the Pac-10 conference against a team from the Mountain West conference. Another college football related event happens about two weeks after the national championship game, and that game is the annual East-West Shrine Game.
